West Side Chicago creative force Jabari “J-HUSH” Jones visits the Urban Grind TV studio Wednesday, September 9 for an exclusive TV interview.

Chicago creativity rarely stays in one lane, and Jabari “J-HUSH” Jones is a perfect example.

Born on Chicago’s West Side, J-HUSH has built a career that stretches across music production, songwriting, fashion, culinary arts and entrepreneurship. His work reflects the culture of the city while showing how creativity can move from the studio to the runway to the kitchen without losing its identity.

On Wednesday, September 9, J-HUSH steps into the Urban Grind TV studio for an exclusive interview about his journey, his creative businesses, his Chicago roots and the experiences that shaped his career.

From Chicago Gospel to Music Production

J-HUSH’s musical foundation was developed in a Grammy Award-winning church environment under the direction of the late Reverend Milton Brunson.

As a teenager and young adult, he was also mentored by acclaimed producer and songwriter Percy Bady, whose credits include work with artists such as R. Kelly, Yolanda Adams, BeBe and CeCe Winans and others.

J-HUSH later developed his own reputation as a producer and songwriter, contributing to projects involving Smokie Norful, the Colorado Mass Choir, Percy and Ray Bady and more.

His creative connections within Chicago music also include artists such as BJ the Chicago Kid, Common, Slique Jay Adams, Philmore Greene, Rufus Sims and others.

For J-HUSH, music is only one part of the story.

Building Culture Club Clothing

As a designer, J-HUSH is the creative force behind Culture Club Clothing, a Chicago-based luxury streetwear brand blending a raw street aesthetic with a more refined visual approach.

Culture Club Clothing has reached stages and creative circles around the world, with pieces worn by musicians and creatives associated with major names including Usher, Tems, Ella Mai, Chris Brown, Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar.

The brand represents another extension of J-HUSH’s creative identity — one rooted in Chicago culture but built with a much broader vision.

Don’t Touch My Plate Catering

J-HUSH has also spent more than 13 years building Don’t Touch My Plate Catering, a Southern and Italian fusion catering company.

His catering work has served clients including New Edition, Rickey Smiley, cast members from The Chi, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and many others.

The move from music to fashion to food may look like three separate careers from the outside, but for J-HUSH, they are all connected by creativity, culture and entrepreneurship.

A Chicago Creative Force

Jabari “J-HUSH” Jones represents a generation of Chicago creatives who refuse to be defined by a single title.

Producer. Songwriter. Designer. Chef. Cultural entrepreneur.

Whether he is creating music, designing clothing or building experiences through food, his work continues to be rooted in authenticity and the spirit of Chicago.

Urban Grind TV sits down with J-HUSH to talk about the road that brought him here, the major names he has worked around, the businesses he continues to build and what comes next.
